The Ancient Art of Acupuncture

What is acupuncture treatment?
Acupuncture is based on the traditional Chinese teaching that energy courses through the body along channels called meridians; illness occurs when that flow is disrupted. Scientists are starting to identify some of the physiological mechanisms at work, and there's evidence that the insertion of needles into designated acupuncture points speeds the conduction of electromagnetic signals within the body. These signals increase the flow of endorphins and other pain-relieving chemicals, as well as immune system cells, which aid healing.

How does acupuncture work to heal the body?
Acupuncture stimulates a relaxation response in the body. Systematically it works by affecting the nervous system and through the activation of certain brain chemicals. Locally, the acupuncture needles can stimulate relaxation in muscles by affecting certain trigger points. Most people know that acupuncture helps to reduce and relieve pain, as well as muscle tension. However, what they might not know is that the W.H.O. (World Health Organization)conducted a study and released a report titled "Acupuncture, Review and Analysis of Reports on Controlled Clinical Trials." endorsing the use of acupuncture to treat the following symptoms, syndromes, disease processes, pathologies, traumas, and conditions:
